“Cavalier’ Dr. M.S. Mathivanan

Born on the first day of 1956, in the family of weaving community, Mathivanan M.S., Son of Shri. Marichettiar Subamaniam and Smt. Pankajam did his schooling Komarapalayam.

With profound zeal and quest of knowledge, he has various Diplomas, Degrees to his credit. He has Master’s Degree in Commerce from Madras University, a Master’s Degree in Economics through Sri Venkateswara University, M.Phil in Financial Management and Doctorate in Home Furnishing through Bharathiar University. He is the fellow of World Academy of Productivity Sciences, awarded at the 14th World Productivity Council, Shenyang, China.

An industrialist turned philanthropist, he has attended various national and international seminars on textile and productivity.

He has presented a research paper on techno economical matters and international marketing scenario of wattle extracts in the leather tanning industry.

On various occasions and the various national and international gatherings, he has submitted several of his research papers on the textile industries, particularly the powerloom industry, their export prospects and benefits and developmental activities.

He has been part of the sub-committee of planning of the XIth Planning Commission of Government of India.

During his tenure as Chairman of Powerloom Development & Export Promotion Council (set by the Ministry of Textiles), he has suggested several welfare schemes for the powerloom manufactures as well as the exporters of powerloom products. He has organized several Buyer-Seller Meets in different cities of India as well as abroad making a platform for the textile products manufactured in powerloom. Because of his tireless efforts, PDEXCIL has made a mark of prominence among the other sister councils set by the Government of India. During his tenure, he urged the Textile Ministry to create a Mega Cluster for the textile industry in Erode as Erode is the prominent place as far as textile in concerned and because of continued efforts, the Government of India sanctioned two mega clusters one Erode and another in Ikchalkaranji for Textile oriented activities.
